Surgical Coordinator/Medical Secretary will be responsible for the day to day operations of a high volume surgical practice of Urology.
Responsibilities
Schedule and organize surgeries using OR Manager and CROWN (EMR); review surgical and clinical forms for completeness and accuracy for all surgical procedures
Provide pre-operative instructions to patients, monitor incoming patient information from various sources (Webcis, facsimile)
Schedule appointments for office visits and procedures using IDX-Web, and review, verify and update demographic and insurance information
Manage physician’s (clinical and administrative) schedule, including opening and closing days in IDX, bumping patients, rescheduling appointments, communicate changes with various staff members (front desk, medical assistants, nurse, clinical operations manager); identify conflicts with physician’s clinic appointments and OR schedule, and provide suggestions for resolving conflicts.
Obtain pre-certifications for ambulatory procedures, medications and other services; Coordinate and obtain financial authorization for radiology, laboratory, and procedures
Mail consult letters, laboratory results, medication prescriptions, radiology requisitions, and referral letters to patients and referring physicians
Answers telephone; screens calls and takes messages; responds to inquiries and directs callers and visitors to appropriate office personnel as needed
Qualifications
High School Diploma or equivalent
Bachelor’s Degree Preferred
2 years minimum experience required.
Must have excellent customer service skills in a high-pressure environment.
Must be able to interact with all levels of staff and must have an understanding of patient confidentiality
