The CMA/Front Desk Receptionist will assist the Pediatrics department in both clinical and front desk duties, these may include, but are not limited to the following:
Assist physicians with patient treatment and procedures, including venipuncture. Take vital signs: temperature, weight, height, blood pressure, conduct blood, urine tests and other measurements as needed
Provide phlebotomy and EKG services. Retrieve lab results from CUMC or NYPH labs, as well as outside labs; enter A1C and blood glucose measurements into CROWN
Crown order entries required
Obtain/verify; verify/update all patient demographic information
Verify patient’s insurance eligibility using the MPV system
Process patient arrivals through the IDX system indicating arrivals and no-shows; confirm that proper referrals and/or pre-certifications are in place; contact referring physicians, as necessary, for referrals or pre-authorizations; Verify correct IDX financial class (FSCs)
Collect all co-pays and patient fees (cash, check, or credit card) at time of service, following Columbia University cash handling protocols. Collect outstanding balances and/or provide patient with Billing office contact information to resolve outstanding balances
HS Diploma or the equivalent in education, training and experience in a clinical practice preferred.
CMA certification required.
1-2 years of experience.
Bilingual (Spanish), Knowledge of IDX billing and scheduling systems preferred.
