Under the guidance of the Doctor or Manager, perform confidential secretarial and general administrative work, assist and relieve the Doctor or Manager of administrative and office details. Incumbents at this level may provide direction to other office personnel, interface with key individuals in other departments, and use PC software systems. This is a non-professional position.
Greet patients in a friendly and courteous manner
Schedule and confirm patient appointments, procedures, and/or surgeries
Obtains copies of patients’ insurance cards and any referrals necessary to process insurance billing
Verify patients’ insurance coverage and pre-authorize insurance coverage for patients’ procedures, diagnostic investigations, and surgeries
Collect co-payments and encounter forms; submit billing for office visits, procedures, and surgeries performed by doctor
Prepare patient charts and files confidential medical records such as tests results, correspondence, etc.
Perform general secretarial duties (i.e. typing and/or word processing, copying, collating, and sorting mail); schedule internal and external meetings; prepare drafts, narratives and other routine correspondence
Arranges travel accommodations and itineraries
High school diploma or equivalency
2-3 years of medical prior experience
Knowledge of doctor’s office procedures.
Proficient computer skills including Word, Power Point, and spreadsheet applications.
Excellent organizational, interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
Must be flexible and able to work in a fast pace environment.
