Assist physician(s) and clinical care coordinator with all aspects of patient visits.
Chart preparation for office hours using EHR/CROWN system
Ensures patient has completed all paperwork; enters data into CROWN system; complies with Meaningful Use.
CROWN order entry duties required
Obtains vital signs and assists physician in retrieving patient medical history. Ensures that patient history and medications are entered into EMR system
Screens patients for and orders appropriate x-rays
Assists physicians with dressings, injections and minor office procedure. Disposes of contaminated items according to OSHA guidelines
Assists with walking device training such as crutch, cane, walkers, etc and with patient education and supplies parents/guardians with appropriate patient education materials and directs patients to specific internet sites for additional information
Fill out necessary forms, i.e. disability forms, workman’s comp, handicap parking as needed; Assist with patient correspondence as needed, i.e. letters of medical necessity, school notes, insurance inquiries, etc
High school diploma required
College education or trade school preferred
Certification as a Medical Assistant required; must be Credentialed
Familiar with standard concepts, practices and procedures within the Orthopedic field preferred
One year of experience working in a physicians practice as a Medical Assistant, preferred.
BLS Certification required
Experience working with pediatric and adult patients a plus
Computer literate, with keyboard skills
Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
Ability to work with patients and make them feel comfortable
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Maintain all required paper work for physician(s) and update as needed
