Under the general direction of the Clinical Care Manager and Site Manager, the Surgical Licensed Practical Nurse is responsible for assisting in the delivery of patient care in the surgical faculty practice sites including hospital-sponsored teaching clinic. In addition to the primary responsibilities within the division of Dermatologic Surgery, the LPN will be expected to assist as reasonably needed in other divisions within the department of Dermatology.
First assist in surgical procedures including local anesthesia, Mohs surgery, excisional, reconstruction surgery including flaps and grafts, punch biopsies, shave biopsies, suture removal and wound care.
Prepare, dilute, draw up medication as needed for use in the faculty practice and Resident clinic
Monitor and report on patient status using all available physical and diagnostic data, including Vital Signs, medical history, and progress with current plan of care.
Provide coverage, when needed to monitor and coordinate patients during and after selected therapies. Some infusions will require on-site monitoring if infusion reaction/allergic reaction occurs; perform CPR
Perform patient and family education and counseling including disease state, plan of care, medications and side effects, all follow up
Candidate must be a Licensed Practical Nurse with a degree from an accredited nursing school and licensed to practice In New York State.
ACLS certification required. 1-2 years of experience required.
Previous dermatology experience (preferably mohs surgery), surgical ambulatory care, and leadership experience preferred.
