The certified medical assistant will have administrative as well as clinical duties in support of DLD’s faculty practice. Will work closely with fellow medical assistants and faculty to support a high volume and efficient gastroenterology practice.
Capable of drawing bloods and labeling/processing for lab. Check and record temp, pulse, HP and weight on each patient. Prepare paper requisitions for lab work.
Stocks each exam room, ordering and tracking supplies.
Provide all check in and check out functions. Registers and obtains patient and insurance demographic information. Confirm accurate demographic data and process patient arrivals and ensure proper referrals and/or pre-certifications are in place.
Obtain authorizations for procedures and services provided by faculty.
Maintains patient charts, files, and patient education materials. File and scan chart notes and other medical information in appropriate chart and electronic medical record system. Faxing and copying when required.
Schedule and manage physician patient calendar through scheduling of office visits and procedures. Conducts reminder calls to patients in advance of appointments.
Provide coverage during lunch breaks and vacations when necessary.
Will provide services primarily on the Milstein campus, but may provide coverage at other locations including but not limited to ColumbiaDoctors Midtown and/or Corlear practice locations.
2 years of related experience in a high volume practice
Experience with front end check in processes: Open Referrals, Experian, Eligibility, authorizations, etc.
High school diploma
Credentialed and registered/medical assistant (CMA/RMA) required
Clinical practice experience
Bilingual in English and Spanish
Interest in gastroenterology work
Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
Computer literate and ability to become completely competent with EPIC, Webcis, Crown, IDX, and any additional clinical systems within three months of hire
