Under the supervision of the Senior Practice Manager, the Medical Secretary will answer phones and greet the patients in a polite and professional manner. The Medical Secretary also performs a variety of functions to assist the practitioners and management in daily office operations.
Register new patients into the IDX Practice Management System.
Maintain daily schedule for new and established patients in Day Treatment Program groups into IDX.
Schedule of initial and follow-ups visits for individual appointments.
Document updates of all patient interaction in IDX ETM system. (Ex: changes of address, phone numbers or billing information.)
Prepare patients charts, ensuring all information, for example: lab results, consults, etc. are complete and correct.
Obtain, scan and file patient’s test result/intake documents or any additional documents in CROWN Electronic Medical Record system.
Follow up medication reconciliation and/or test requisitions by the providers and review orders in CROWN at direction of provider.
High school diploma required
2 Years of a college degree preferred
2-3 years of medical office/medical secretary experience or related experience in a clinical practice is preferred.
Knowledge of GE/IDX, Epic or a Practice Management system is required.
Knowledge of an Electronic Health Record is preferred.
Computer literate and knowledge of Microsoft applications and ability and willingness to learn new systems and programs.
Working knowledge of Managed Care plans, with an overall understanding of how the insurance plans work, including referrals and prior authorizations.
Familiarity with scheduling and rearranging appointments.
