The Credentialed Medical Assistant/Front Desk Receptionist will be assigned to provide coverage for any of the faculty practice departments and locations at ColumbiaDoctors Tarrytown.
Covers main reception desk including greeting and interacting with patients in a courteous, professional and welcoming manner; coordinates all clerical aspects of patient flow for clinic day.
Ensures that the examination/consultation/treatment rooms are clean and stocked with requisitions, forms, and medical supplies
Completes medication reconciliation and/or test requisitions and places order in CROWN at direction of provider. CROWN Order Entries Required.
Performs EKGs, phlebotomy, urinalysis, and assist physicians in biopsies and minor procedures such as suture removal, staple removal, and wound care, etc. as needed (training provided, competency monitored); obtains and enters all Meaningful Use data in CROWN/IDX.
Check patients using HealthGrid/IDX ; accurately collecting, updating and verifying patient demographic and insurance information in IDX and/or patient’s chart.
Collection of copayments/fees and posting of payments to IDX, provide all patients with a receipt; daily reconciliation of the cash drawer.
Schedules follow up appointments in IDX and providers/other departments/facilities; provide patient with appointment card and all necessary instructions to ensure a smooth follow up visit
Interviews patient, measures vital signs, height and weight, and record/scan information into CROWN (including but not limited to insurance card, referrals, registration forms, outside records, etc).
Ability to work flexible hours/days as well as rotating Saturdays.
High School graduate or GED equivalent
Credentialed and registered/ medical assistant, (CMA/RMA) required
1-3 years of experience in an outpatient medical office environment
Knowledge of IDX preferred
Possess knowledge of modern medical office equipment, systems and procedures
Ability to work independently and takes initiative to improve overall office operations
Excellent communication/customer service
Ability to adjust daily to different services and medical staff needs, process, and clinic flow
