Under the direction of the Medical Director performs all duties associated with acquisition, processing, submission for interpretation and archiving CT images; responsible for the care of the patient while in the CT area. Responsible administratively to the Practice Administrator.
Reviews imaging requests for appropriateness based on clinical information provided. All questionable orders are reviewed with the radiologist and at the radiologist discretion the referring physician.
Positions patient and selects appropriate options to demonstrate cross-sectional anatomy of interest based on accepted CT principles and the referring physician’s request.
Judges diagnostic quality of finished medical images prior to submission to radiologist for interpretation.
Performs clerical responsibilities associated with acquisition, processing and archiving of patient records.
Offers detailed explanation of diagnostic procedures to patients and answers questions as appropriate.
Observes patient while in the CT area for change in status and makes appropriate intervention or contacts primary care givers for instruction.
Supervises and directs other non-technical personnel that may be assigned to the area for which they are responsible.
Identifies and corrects problems as appropriate with all critical occurrences reported to the next level of authority.
Operates and maintains equipment on a daily basis maintaining logbooks with equipment performance data: schedules PM, performs QA, maintains records required for and participates in inspections.
Maintains inventory of supplies.
Graduate of an AMA approved School of Radiologic Technology; NYS License, ARRT/CT certified, BCLS required.
2-3 year’s prior experience.
Must be able to move around freely. Must be able to assist in the lifting of physically compromised patients. Must possess sufficient visual and auditory acuity to perform task related to the patient; sits, stands, bends and walks intermittently throughout the day; must lift patients and supplies.
Works in a medical facility subject to electrical, chemical, magnetic and radiant hazards; exposure to infectious disease and lifting hazards.
