The Perinatal Sonographer will be performing confidential ultrasonography exams as follows:
Localize and recognize difference between health and pathological areas to check for factors such as position, obstructions or changes in shape.
Integrate diagnostic sonogram with patients’ history, medical records and laboratory results, and adapt to examinations
Judge whether images are satisfactory for diagnostic purposes. Present and prepare preliminary ultrasound findings to attending physician for final report
Maintain log of ultrasound test findings.
Assist the physician with patient care; Explain the procedure to the patient, record medical history considered necessary and prepare patient for testing.
Collaboratively work with billing/ secretarial staff with regards to authorizations/charges.
Graduate of an accredited Diagnostic Medical Program.
Candidate must be RDMS or RDMS registry eligible. RDMS eligible graduates from CAAHEP (Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education) accredited program must be registered in OB/GYN within 12 months of employment.
ARDMS credentials must be maintained yearly
OB/GYN experience for a minimum of one year, excellent oral/written communication skills, strong customer service background as well as proficiency in computers
Ability operates ultrasound equipment efficiently, evaluate sonogram to acquire diagnostic information, communicate diagnostic information to physicians, follow departmental protocols and guidelines, and communicate effectively with patients and health care team
