Works under the direction of Medical Director, and administratively, the Practice Administrator; performs all duties associated with provision of effective and comprehensive nursing care to patients and their families.
Assess patients before administration of iodinated contrast for CT, MRI or other imaging studies. Obtain appropriate history including allergies.
Provide for safe and accurate administration of medication, intravenous fluids in accordance with physician orders and nursing standards.
Establish intravenous access for contrast administration of medication, intravenous fluids; Deliver intravenous contrast or other IV medications including IV sedation per radiologist order.
Perform physical, psychological and cognitive status assessments of patients.
Monitor patient while in the imaging area for change in status and make appropriate intervention or contact primary care givers for instruction.
Initiate care and discharge plan for patients after invasive procedures.
Responsible for ensuring that safety equipment is properly maintained by Security, notifying them if Banyan Box is locked.
Responsible for maintenance and storage of medication, syringe, catheter inventory.
Conscious Sedation: maintain medication records, security, records related to each patient
Requires a bachelor’s degree or equivalent in education and experience.
New York State RN license
Minimum of 1 year of Interventional Radiology experience or 2 years of ER, ICU, OR, Cath Lab, Telemetry or Recovery Room experience.
