The Administrative Medical Secretary will be responsible for all aspects of a Cardiology physician practice including all revenue cycle tasks. Administratively oversees fellowship education fund.
Meet and greet patients in a professional cordial manner, maintain constant awareness patient flow and monitor patients in waiting area.
Answer telephone and EHR task lists triaging calls/messages to all applicable parties throughout the work day.
Schedule and confirm appointments for office using GE/IDX Web. Obtain demographics and insurance prior to visit and verify insurance through Experian to ensure account is secured prior to visit. Obtain insurance referrals and pre-authorizations for specialists and procedures according to Managed Care guidelines.
Follow cash management ColumbiaDoctors guidelines by collecting TOS payments and outstanding balances prior to patient visit, create daily TOS cash/check logs, prepare patient receipts, make deposits and reconcile against daily schedule.
Review and submit charges through electronic health record with an understanding of ICD10-CM and CPT coding. Post payments, process refunds, review and follow-up on Accounts Receivable.
Access patient account inquiry on GE/IDX in order to respond to patient inquiries.
Orders and maintains supplies, postage and equipment.
High School diploma or equivalent required; college degree desirable. Related experience may substitute advanced education and/or experience.
At least 2-4 years experience in a medical office.
Knowledge of GE/IDX Web Scheduling and BAR, preferred
Knowledge of electronic health record, specifically Alscripts and/or EPIC, preferred
Knowledge of Microsoft Office Applications, preferred
Workign knowledge of Managed Care, Medicare, and Medicaid insurances and have an understanding of how the insurace plans work, including referrals and pre-authorizations
Computer literate to include keyboarding skills
Proven experience handling irate patients, dealing with conflict, and troubleshooting
