The Medical Secretary/Office Manager will be responsible for all aspects of an Endocrinologist physician practice including all revenue cycle tasks.
Meet and greet patients in a professional cordial manner, maintain constant awareness patient flow and monitor patients in waiting area.
Schedule and confirm appointments using a manual schedule system. Obtain demographics and insurance prior to visit and verify insurance to ensure account is secured prior to visit.
Check in patients, request insurance cards, picture ID, obtain medical records and intake forms from new patients and pull patient chart.
Obtain insurance referrals and pre-authorizations for specialists and procedures according to Managed Care guidelines.
Follow cash management ColumbiaDoctors guidelines by collecting TOS payments and outstanding balances prior to patient visit, create daily TOS Cash/Check logs, prepare patient receipts, make deposits and reconcile against daily schedule.
Review and submit charges through Office Ally billing application with an understanding of ICD10-CM and CPT coding. Post payments, process refunds, review and follow- up on Accounts Receivable.
Access patient account inquiry in billing application in order to respond to patient inquiries.
Order and maintains supplies, postage, and equipment.
At least 2-4 years’ experience in a medical office
Knowledge of Office Ally Scheduling, preferred.
Knowledge of electronic heath record, specifically Allscripts and/or EPIC, preferred.
Knowledge of Microsoft Office Applications, preferred
Working knowledge of Managed Care, Medicare and Medicaid Insurances and have an understanding of how the insurance plans work, including referrals and pre-authorizations
