Works under the direction of the Nurse Manger and Practice Administrator; performs all duties associated with provision of effective and comprehensive nursing care to patients and their families in the recovery room of the endoscopy suite.
Assess patients after endoscopy by the Attending Physician. Monitor patient post procedure and provide discharge instructions and patient education.
Provide for safe and accurate administration of medication, intravenous fluids in accordance with physician orders and nursing standards when necessary.
Establish intravenous access for administration of medication, intravenous fluids and administer IV medications per physician’s order, if necessary.
Perform physical, psychological and cognitive status assessments of patients to ensure safety of patient as anesthesia wears off.
Identifies and corrects problems as appropriate with all critical occurrences reported to the next level of authority.
Will aid in ensuring that safety equipment is properly maintained, e.g., Automated External Defibrillator (AED), crash cart.
Responsible for maintenance and storage of medication, syringe, catheter inventory food and medical supplies in recovery room.
Ensures smooth and efficient patient flow in endoscopy suite and ensures recovery room is prepared efficiently to ensure smooth turnover of room.
Minimum Education: Graduate of an Accredited School of Nursing, Bachelor's Degree in Nursing preferred
