The Certified Medical Assistant will have administrative as well as clinical duties in support of DLD’s faculty practice based at the Allen Hospital and ColumbiaDoctors Riverdale. Will work closely with fellow medical assistants and faculty to support a high volume and efficient gastroenterology practice.
Coordinates patient flow with physicians. Provide all check in and check out functions.
Check and record temp, pulse, HP and weight on each patient.
Reviews procedure prep understanding with patients.
Capable of drawing bloods and labeling/processing for lab. Prepare paper requisitions for lab work.
Stocks each exam room, ordering and tracking supplies.
Reviews routine reports and other matter submitted for the physician and returns or reconciles reports. Maintains patient charts, files, and patient education materials.
Registers and obtains patient and insurance demographic information. Confirm accurate demographic data and process patient arrivals and ensure proper referrals and/or pre-certifications are in place. Obtain authorizations for procedures and services provided by faculty.
Schedule and manage physician patient calendar through scheduling of office visits and procedures.
2 years of related experience in a high volume practice
Experience with front end check in processes: Open Referrals, Experian, Eligibility, authorizations, etc.
