The Incumbent will work under the direction of the Nurse Manager and Dermatological Surgeons. Responsible for assisting the physician in the care of patients to assure optimal medical care. Responsible for performing laboratory procedure and maintaining the laboratory.
Specimen handling, storage, preservation and identification. Freezing tissue and cutting frozen sections with a microtome
Staining and placing tissue on slides. Labeling and storage of slides
Use and handling of all materials and reagents. Preparation and mixing of solutions used in MOHS lab
Maintenance and review of all equipment and materials in the lab. Maintaining and updating OSHA and CUA records
Recording daily temperatures of cryostat
Participating in relative studies by maintaining proper records
Maintaining quality control logs for slide review and maintain log for patient identification system
High school graduate
New York State Department of Professions Registration Certificate
Two years of directly related experience in a MOHS surgical lab
Excellent interpersonal, organizational, written and oral communication skills are essential.
Knowledge of anatomy and medical terminology are desirable.
