Responsible for leadership role regarding different sites or Services. Being involved in the scheduling of ophthalmic technicians working at an Assistant Manager's Site or in the Assistant Managers service. Meet with physicians to monitor and improve patient care and office flow. Work with the tech manager on operational issues as they develop. Seek out and provide educational resources to improve technical skills. When applicable to site or service, coordinate with Tech Manager to ensure that technicians are cross-trained so that they can provide service to the physicians on any piece of equipment. Technically, assist physicians with patient examination and treatment, documentation of patient histories, routine diagnostic procedures.
Provide technical leadership to technical support staff to tech team.
Function as a manager on duty when the Tech Manager is not physically present.
Conduct regular technical support staff meetings regarding a Site or Service. Ensure that the technical staff meets and exceeds service standards set forth by the department and University.
Serve as mediator between faculty/physicians and technical support staff to improve clinical floor and patient flow.
Assign ancillary office responsibilities to maintain procedure and examination lanes and refractive suite.
Maintain an inventory of all diagnostic and therapeutic equipment in the department and ensure that equipment is maintained in good working order and routine services are completed. Address and resolve any equipment issues in a timely manner to ensure minimal interruptions to operations.
For Laser Vision Correction lead, supervise all refractive suite activities i.e. staffing, schedules, equipment, medical and mechanical supplies.
High School Diploma or equivalent
Graduate of Ophthalmic Technician Course
2 years of managerial experience preferred
Excellent organization, interpersonal and communication skills
Ability to act independently
Accuracy in performing technical exams
Strong knowledge of ophthalmic anatomy and physiology
