The medical secretary will have administrative duties in support of faculty within DLD’s faculty practice. Will work closely with fellow medical assistants, secretaries, faculty, NPs’ and PAs to support a high volume and efficient gastroenterology practice.
Coordinates patient flow with physicians.
Reviews routine reports and other matter submitted for the physician and returns or reconciles reports.
Provide all check in and check out functions.
Registers and obtains patient and insurance demographic information. Confirm accurate demographic data and process patient arrivals and ensure proper referrals and/or pre-certifications are in place.
Obtain authorizations for procedures and services provided by faculty.
File and scan chart notes and other medical information in appropriate chart and electronic medical record system. Faxing and copying when required.
Schedule and manage physician patient calendar through scheduling of office visits and procedures. Conducts reminder calls to patients in advance of appointments.
2 years of related experience in a high volume practice
Experience with front end check in processes: Open Referrals, Experian, Eligibility, authorizations, etc.
High school diploma
Clinical practice experience
Bilingual in English and Spanish
Interest in gastroenterology work
Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
Computer literate and ability to become completely competent with EPIC, Webcis, Crown, IDX, and any additional clinical systems within three months of hire
