May include, but are not limited to the following:
Obtain/verify & update all patient demographic and insurance information
Verify patient’s insurance eligibility using the MPV system
Process patient arrivals through the IDX system indicating arrivals and no-shows; confirm that proper referrals and/or pre-certifications are in place; contact referring physicians, as necessary, for referrals or pre-authorizations; Verify correct IDX financial class (FSCs)
Collect all co-pays and patient fees (cash, check, or credit card) at time of service, following Columbia University cash handling protocols
Receive all pending patient medical records, scans and reports and scan documents into CROWN
Responsible for physician’s schedule; maintain and update daily IDX scheduling templates
Using the IDX template, schedule exiting patients for follow up visits; visits to other medical office(s) and ancillary tests and scans
Provide existing patients with confirmations for doctor and diagnostic appointment and the corresponding referrals and pre-authorizations
Print and give patients office visit summary and/or education material in compliance with Meaning Use policy. Complete and provide school letters
High School Diploma or the equivalent in education, training and experience in a clinical practice.
Bachelor’s Degree Preferred.
Knowledge of IDX billing and scheduling systems preferred.
