The Certified Surgical Technician is responsible for working interdependently with other health care professionals to provide quality health care to patients. He/she is educated and trained to perform both clinical and administrative skills in a clinical outpatient setting.
Assists physicians as the second scrub role, with various procedures such as cystoscopies, and biopsies in an outpatient setting. Assists with draping and responsible for establishing and maintaining sterile field.
Manage and maintain inventories, orders or re-stocks medical supplies, medications and equipment weekly.
Maintains all equipment for the outpatient cystoscopy suite and procedural spaces as directed by the nurse manager. Cleans and prepares instruments for terminal sterilization.
Ability to clearly explain procedure to patient. Prepare patients for examinations. Ensures privacy for patient. Organize supplies on sterile field
Provides set-up of examination room and instruments in accordance with proper sterilization techniques established by hospital and infection control policies
Complies with established personal protective equipment requirements necessary for protection against exposure to blood and other potentially infections body fluids, chemical disinfectants, radiation and other hazardous substances
Assists in the maintenance and manages charts to ensure information is completed and filed appropriately.
