Under the supervision of the Billing and Coding Manager and Director of Revenue Cycle, the Patient Account Representative provides revenue cycle support to the Department of Emergency Medicine.
Assist in internal and external customers with account resolution
Completes daily edit reports and ETM/TES tasks
Updates patient demographics and releases encounters
Reviews accounts via ETM and makes charge corrections as needed
Accesses payer websites and/or contacts payers via phone to follow up on unpaid claims
Resubmits claims to third-party payers
As required, prepares and/or addresses issues in clinical and financial reports
Minimum Education: High School Diploma or GED; Bachelor’s degree preferred. Minimum Experience: Must have at least two years of revenue cycle and practice management software experience. IDX and EPIC are preferred. Experience in ER billing a plus. Minimum Filed or Expertise: Excellent interpersonal, organizational, written and oral communication skills are essential. Knowledge of medical terminology desirable.
