The Medical Assistant is responsible for assisting the daily clinical operations of a high volume practice within the Cardiology Division.
Coordinate medication prior authorization on a daily basis for patients with advanced heart failure, including a special concentration on amyloid cardiomyopaths.
Coordinate supportive resources with pharmaceutical company patient assistance programs and additional patient assistance resources for those patients with financial hardship.
Process and update patient prescription refills on a daily basis for patients with advanced failure, including a special concentration on amyloid cardiomyopaths.
Process all incoming fax pertaining to prescription orders and refills.
Review current patient prescriptions and medication refill history in the electronic medical record to ensure accuracy of requested prescription/refills.
Enter and communicate tasks/prescription authorization related needs through the electronic medical record.
Perform vital signs, phlebotomy, ECGs, and blood glucose measurements.
Utilize the electronic medical record (EMR) system to input discreet clinical data elements: medications, allergies, vitals, labs and patient problems.
Minimum Education: High school diploma or equivalent, medical assistant certification from an accredited program. Minimum Experience: Knowledge of Medical terminology and 2-3 years of related experience preferred. Knowledge of IDX scheduling systems. Knowledge of or previous experience with EPIC or electronic medical record system.
