The Practice Assistant is an integral part of the team and is responsible to assist the practice in the smooth functioning of operations on a daily basis. A Practice Assistant is able to prioritize and organize daily work responsibilities based upon practice and provider needs while maintaining service excellence standards and excellent communication skills. Employee will work in a high-volume practice, must be able to multi-task.
Scheduling, registration, cash collection, billing related tasks, referral management, phone management, data entry into electronic health record and assisting with patient flow during practice sessions. Other delegated duties as needed.
Acts as a liaison between patient and provider.
Greets and checks-in patients. Ensures accuracy of demographic and fiscal information.
Schedules inpatient and outpatient procedures as necessary. Coordinates services for discharged patients as needed to ensure continuance of care for our discharged patients.
Responsible to collect co-payments from patient as necessary. Completes accurate documentation of all transactions.
Billing responsibilities as assigned by practice. Ensures billing meets compliance standards.
Responsible to enter data obtained from patient into the electronic health record. Ensures accuracy of data entry into correct electronic patient health record.
High School Diploma or equivalent required.
Two (2) years of experience working in an outpatient setting preferred.
Ability to read, write and understand English and proficiency is required and the same for Spanish is a plus. Requires basic math skills.
Medical Assistant Training school certification a plus.
Visual and aural ability to assess patients within parameters of responsibilities.
Communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with a wide variety of individuals.
Oriented to patient satisfaction.
Manual dexterity to perform a variety of tasks and skills in area of assignment.
