The Certified/Registered Medical Assistant is responsible for working interdependently with other health care professionals to provide quality health care to patients. The Medical Assistant is educated and trained to perform both clinical and administrative skills in the medical care environment.
Check schedules and organize patient flow; accompanying patients to exam/procedure room, assisting patients as needed with walking, transferring, dressing, collecting and processing specimens and point of care testing, preparing for exam, etc
Assists physicians with various procedures such as cystoscopies, and biopsies in an outpatient setting. Must be able to record vital signs, and relay instructions to patients and or families; answer calls and provides pertinent information
Manage and maintain inventories, orders or re-stocks medical supplies, medications and equipment weekly
Maintains logging system as required for refrigeration of medications, point of care testing, sterilization process, point of care testing or others as needed. Checks expiration dates on all medications and medical supplies disposing appropriately
Record patient interview, history and chief complaint in CROWN (EMR). Provide patient education with regards to office policies
Request order entries within CROWN
Prepare patients for examinations and performing routine screening tests. Should be able to perform venipuncture and perform various lab tests
Provides set-up of examination room and instruments in accordance with proper sterilization techniques established by hospital and infection control policies
High School Diploma, Medical Assisting Certificate,
AAMA Certification required.
Completed MA and RDMS externship with minimum of five months of experience.
