Reporting to the Administrative Director of the Community DentCare Network at Columbia University College of Dental Medicine. The assistant will primarily be responsible for dental assisting and clerical duties at various school-based dental clinics.
Chart for dentist during dental screening, assist dentist with chair side duties during restorative procedures and assist hygienist when providing preventive services.
Prepare daily schedules, distribute appointments and may be required to pick up and escort patients from classrooms to the dental clinic.
Responsible for obtaining, verifying and imputing demographic, insurance, treatment and billing data into the billing system.
Prepare statistical reports as required. Pull, file and maintain patient charts.
Prepare, dispense and maintain supplies, materials, instruments and equipment.
Follow and maintain all infection control and safety regulations.
Assistant must be willing to participate or attend parent/teacher conferences and other community outreach events.
Must be willing to rotate to provide coverage at various school-based clinics and must be able to work flexible hours when necessary.
High School Diploma or Equivalency certificate
Minimum one year of related dental assisting experience.
Knowledge of dental terminology, instruments and equipment.
