Works under the direction of Nurse Manager and Medical Director, and administratively, the Practice Administrator; the Charge Nurse will be responsible for supervision of the nursing staff, supervision of the VIR medical services provided, and the maintenance of quality patient care in compliance with local, state and federal regulations and accreditation standards.
Works with the Technologist Manager to provide adequate staffing coverage. Works with the Technologist Manager to approve nursing staff time off.

Assessment and Care of the VIR patient throughout care delivery: Pre-procedure assessment and preparation; Intra-procedural IR set up and Post procedural care
Provide for safe and accurate administration of medication, intravenous fluids, contrast and IV sedation in accordance with physician orders and nursing standards. Conscious Sedation: maintain medication records, security, records related to each patient.
Establish intravenous access for contrast administration medication administration, and intravenous fluids.
Perform physical, psychological and cognitive status assessments of patients.. Monitor patient throughout care delivery for change in status and make appropriate intervention /contact primary care givers for instruction.
Initiate care and discharge plan for patients after invasive procedures, educate patient and provide written instructions
Responsible for ensuring that emergency equipment is properly maintained and restocked. Responsible for maintenance and storage of medication, syringe, catheter inventory.
Requires a bachelor’s degree or equivalent in education and experience.
New York State RN license and a minimum of 5 years of Interventional Radiology experience or 2 years of Charge Nurse experience in ER, ICU, OR, Cath Lab, Telemetry or Recovery Room experience.
