The Division of Digestive & Liver Diseases is seeking a RN to provide patient care and education in an outpatient clinical setting for various subspecialty programs in gastroenterology.
Responsible for seeing and evaluating outpatients and inpatients requiring GI consultation.
Acts as a resource in facilitating collection of patient medical records, pathology slides, and imaging results in preparation for first visit.
Support outpatient care for office visits, follow-ups, and procedures.
Conduct histories and physicals on all assigned patients. Conduct preliminary consultations and present appropriate clinical information to attending staff.
Performs comprehensive nursing assessment of patients within scope, in clinical areas and via telephone in collaboration with MD. Communicates with MD regarding patient needs in a clinically appropriate and timely manner and maintains therapeutic relationships with patient and family.
Collaborates with Endoscopy Suite nurses and staff in the care and treatment of patients.
Provides compassionate, evidence-based nursing care to patients and caregivers.
Addresses psychosocial concerns of patient and caregivers related to disease and treatment.
2-3 years of experience as a RN
Current New York State RN license, and board certification
Basic Life Support (BLS)
Prior experience in a gastroenterology and/or surgery practice
