Under the direction of the Director of Practice Operations and Nurse Manager. Responsible for assisting physician in the care of patients to assure optimal medical care. Responsible for performing basic laboratory procedures and maintaining the laboratory.
Responsibilities
Assist physician in the physical exam; assist in the preparation of patients under the supervision of the physician.
Responsible for patient education and providing a comfortable environment for patients while receiving treatment.
Performs appropriate laboratory test (including specimen collection, preparation of lab requisition forms, logging, etc)
Performs appropriate diagnostic lab procedures under physicians supervision. Report lab findings to the physician. Report lab findings to the patient per physician instructions.
Schedule patients for appropriate procedures with outsides labs
Prepares and maintains lab for patient care (including stocking supplies, organizing shelves and drawers, daily cleaning of counters and lab equipment)
“Scrub-down” of all patient examination rooms, lab, etc. Sterilize surgical instruments using appropriate method, e.g. steam, chemical, ultrasound, etc.
Monitor drug samples (check for expiration dates, overstock, etc.) Responsible for maintaining proper inventory for all clinical supplies.
Qualifications
Minimum Education:
Completion of high school.
Graduation from medical vocational assistance program or surgical technician program.
Minimum of one (1) year work experience in a medical/clinical setting.
