The Practice Assistant is an integral part of the team and is responsible to assist the practice in the smooth functioning of operations on a daily basis.
Excellent interpersonal skills. Demonstrates courtesy and respect in all interactions with patients, providers and with all team members. Acts as a liaison between patient and provider.
Utilizes computer technology to assist in scheduling and registration processes. Demonstrates accuracy and attention to detail.
Assists patients requesting appointments in the practice to ensure access to providers. Schedules, reschedules and cancels appointments as necessary.
Greets and checks-in patients. Ensures accuracy of demographic and fiscal information.
Schedules outpatient procedures as necessary. Coordinates services for patients as needed to ensure continuance of care.
Responsible to collect co-payments from patient as necessary. Completes accurate documentation of all transactions. Billing responsibilities as assigned by practice. Ensures billing meets compliance standards..
This position also requires practice assistant coverage cross coverage, which would include but is not limited to helping stock exam rooms, escorting patients to exam room, putting away supplies, preparing appropriate paperwork for procedures, etc.
High School Diploma or equivalent required.
Two (2) years of experience working in an outpatient setting preferred.
Ability to read, write and understand English and proficiency is required and the same for Spanish is a plus. Requires basic math skills.
Visual and aural ability to assess patients within parameters of responsibilities.
Communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with a wide variety of individuals.
Oriented to patient satisfaction.
Manual dexterity to perform a variety of tasks and skills in area of assignment.
