The Front Desk Receptionist/Medical Assistant will be assigned to provide front desk and medical assisting coverage for the department of Orthopedic Surgery.
Responsibilities
Check patients using HealthGrid/IDX ; accurately collecting, updating and verifying patient demographic and insurance information in IDX and/or patient’s chart.
Collection of copayments/fees and posting of payments to IDX, daily reconciliation of the cash drawer.
Collection and recording Pharmacy information and Meaningful Use data in IDX/CROWN.
Creating and sending Patient Portal invitations.
Scheduling follow up appointments with providers and help coordinate follow up care and diagnostic testing, providing patient with appointment card and all necessary instructions to ensure a smooth follow up visit.
Responsible for managing a smooth clinic flow by assessing and anticipating MD schedule, ensuring any patient results or chart documents are available and assigning clinic space effectively.
Scrutinizes all medical forms for accuracy and resolve issues during session.
Ensures that the examination /consultation/treatment rooms are stocked with requisitions, forms, and medical supplies.
Interviews patient, measures vital signs, height and weight, and records information in CROWN.
Completes medication reconciliation and/or test requisitions and places order in CROWN at direction of provider
Performs EKGs, phlebotomy, urinalysis, and assist physicians in biopsies and minor procedures such as suture removal, staple removal, and wound care, etc. as needed (training provided, competency monitored). Collects, labels, and sends all specimens to proper areas of the hospital.
Qualifications
Educational Requirements:
High School diploma required.
College education or trade school preferred.
Certification as a Medical Assistant is required; must be nationally Certified or Registered.
Qualifications and Experience:
BLS certification required.
Casting, bracing and orthotic soft goods training preferred.
Ability to work with patients and make them feel comfortable.
One year of experience in an outpatient medical office environment preferred.
Knowledge of medical office equipment, systems and procedures.
Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
