Schedule surgical cases for the Dermatology Surgery Unit.
Provides coverage amongst all locations.
Work with OR schedulers in the various departments to ensure all OR cases are scheduled in a timely manner.
Contact insurance companies to obtain pre-certifications for surgical procedures including authorizations for radiological procedures, when required.
Shedule patients for consultations both within dermatology and outside of department.
Provide pre-operative instructions to patients, monitor incoming patient information.
Maintain database to ensure all pre-surgical forms, patient radiological exams and laboratory work is completed in a timely manner.
Work with Site Manager to improve schedule and space utilization of outpatient and OR time and release of unused time.
Review surgical and clinic encounter forms for completeness and accuracy for charge posting on a daily basis.
Answer incoming calls, retrieve messages from various sources (telephone, CROWN task and portal, facsimile, e-mail), and deliver messages to physician, nurses, and appropriate parties.
Qualifications
Position Qualification:
The candidate must demonstrate current competencies applicable to job position. Minimum Education:
Associate Degree with three years of related experience or equivalent in experience and education. Minimum Field or Expertise:
Three years of Medical Secretary experience.
Prior experience in Dermatology is preferred. Demonstrated knowledge of surgical scheduling.
Good communication and writing skills.
Must be well-organized and attentive to details.
Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office.
