Under the supervision of the Site Manager and Nurse Manager, the Surgical Technician is responsible for assisting the surgeons in the medical and surgical care of patients. In addition to intraoperative duties performed under the direction of the surgeon, the Surgical Technician is also responsible for pre and postoperative patient care and teaching. It is the responsibility of the individual to assist the surgeon carry out a safe operation with optimal results for the patient.
First assist the physician in the exam room during initial consultations; all cosmetic procedures including but not limited to: botox injections, chemical peels, filler injections, laser hair removal, laser tattoo removal, pigmented lesion removal, resurfacing, scar treatments, sclerotherapy and vascular lesion removal.
Prepare patients for physical exam and take patient histories and document in EMR
Prepare patients for surgical procedures and surgical rooms appropriately for surgical procedures (Moh's, excisions)
Provide patient education regarding postsurgical wound care and follow up
Do suture removal on follow up patients under the supervision of the physician
Sterilize surgical instruments utilizing department sterilization protocol method and maintain surgical instruments and equipment in proper working order at all times
Report lab findings to physicians; to patients as per physician's instructions
High School Graduate or GED Certification.
Graduation from a Surgical Technician Program required.
Minimum two years of clinical experience in related field.
Must have current CST certification from an approved credentialing body.
